Your Business Is a Mirror (and So Is Your Career)
Believe it or not, your business—or your career—is like a mirror.
It reflects you. Your mindset. Your patterns. Your values. Your fears. All of it.
I’ve seen this show up time and again, both as a leader and as an employee. The challenges we face externally often mirror something going on inside. And the most impactful leaders—the ones who inspire, connect, and create real change—are the ones doing the inner work. Authentic leaders are in short supply, and when you encounter one, you feel it. They bring a sense of presence and clarity that’s hard to ignore.
There’s a quote from Cecile Randoing, MCC that’s been echoing in my mind lately:
“Doing the deep personal work to expand self-awareness and upgrade mental models pays enormous dividends.”
Yes. A thousand times yes.
We spend so much energy chasing external wins: the title, the promotion, the next big milestone. And listen, I’m not against ambition—go after what you want. But here’s what I’ve learned (sometimes the hard way):
The real key to creating the life and work you want isn’t out there. It’s in here.
And I know that sounds like something off a motivational poster, but stay with me.
Think about it. How many times have you reached a goal, only to realize you still feel… off? Like something’s missing?
That’s because sustainable success—the kind that feels alive and aligned—only comes when you really know yourself. When you’ve done the hard, beautiful work of understanding what drives you, what holds you back, and what stories you’ve been believing that just aren’t true.
That work isn’t always fun. In fact, it can be wildly uncomfortable.
But it’s also where everything starts to change.
When you stop chasing quick fixes and start asking deeper questions—
What do I actually want?
What fear is keeping me stuck?
Where am I out of alignment with my own values?
That’s when growth happens. That’s when you start showing up differently—in your relationships, your leadership, your choices. That’s when things shift from the inside out.
The work is not always easy. But the payoff? It’s everything.
Your business changes. Your leadership deepens.
And most importantly, you become the person you’ve always known you could be.
So, if you’re ready to stop chasing and start reflecting—
