Is Waiting Costing You More Than You Think?

What’s the cost of waiting for perfect clarity before you act?

It sounds responsible, doesn’t it? Thoughtful. Strategic. Measured. We tell ourselves we just need a little more information. A little more certainty. A little more proof that it’s going to work. The right time. The perfect plan. Complete buy-in. All the answers. And on the surface, that makes sense.

But from a coaching perspective, it’s worth pausing to ask a different question: are you actually seeking clarity… or are you seeking certainty?

Because here’s the truth—perfect clarity is a myth. It doesn’t exist.

You’re not waiting for clarity. You’re waiting for a guarantee. And guarantees don’t come in growth.

So while you wait, something else is happening. Time is passing. Opportunities are shifting. Problems are compounding. Other people are moving forward—not because they have more clarity, but because they’re willing to act without it. And that’s where the real cost shows up. Not in a dramatic, obvious way—but in the quiet accumulation of missed momentum, delayed decisions, and untapped potential.

Let’s get curious.

What are you currently waiting on?
What decision are you postponing until you “feel more ready”?
What are you hoping clarity will give you that you don’t already have?

Because often, the belief is: “Once I have clarity, I’ll take action.” But in reality, it works the other way around.

Clarity comes from action.

It comes from testing, learning, adjusting. From stepping forward with what you know now and allowing the next step to reveal itself. From being willing to get it wrong, refine, and keep moving. That’s where confidence is built—not in waiting, but in doing.

And yes, that requires courage.

Courage to move without having it all figured out.
Courage to trust yourself in the process.
Courage to accept that clarity isn’t something you find—it’s something you create.

Because progress doesn’t require perfection.  It requires movement.

And movement creates momentum. Momentum creates insight. Insight creates clarity.

So if you’re feeling stuck, uncertain, or hesitant, the question isn’t “How do I get more clarity?” It’s: “What’s one step I can take with the clarity I already have?”

Because waiting feels safe. But it often costs you the very thing you’re trying to protect—your growth, your impact, your ability to move forward with intention.

Hi, I’m Carla Hale.

I spent a lot of time chasing perfection—waiting until things felt fully clear, fully aligned, fully “ready” before I acted. And what I’ve learned is this: that pursuit of perfection was actually holding me back.

When I finally chose progress over perfection, everything shifted.

I started taking action with what I knew, trusting that I would figure the rest out along the way. And that’s exactly what happened. My life opened up to growth, opportunity, and alignment in ways I couldn’t have planned ahead of time.

Because clarity didn’t come before I acted.  It came because I did.

Now, I help others move out of waiting and into action—creating clarity through intentional steps forward.  You don’t need to have it all figured out to begin.
