Finding Balance as a Working Mom

The year is 1994.  I’ve been married for just over one year.  I’ve completed 2 years of my Bachelor’s degree.  Fall semester is starting.  On the door leading into our kitchen hangs a desk calendar.  It is color coded with all the things I hope to keep straight for the next few months.  What might I be juggling?  I’m a full-time wife, full time college student, full time preschool teacher, and …full time mom.  My husband also works two jobs.  Shuffling our infant son between family members for the next few months while I work and go to class, while still maintaining a clean house, well-kept yard and taking care of my family, seems an impossible task.  Did I join the circus, and someone assigned me the role of the juggler? I felt like I was juggling flaming torches.  Would our lives go up in flames if I dropped one of them?

I believe many working mothers feel their own version of this.  How do they keep all the balls in the air?  There is a way to navigate through it.  For 20-year-old me, it was a color-coded calendar and a lot of prayer and determination.   It looks different for each mother.  The reality is we love our family and want those relationships to be a priority in our lives.  AND we have chosen a career we want to move forward successfully, hopefully in a workplace where they feel valued.  Can all of this happen?  Can we truly live fulfilled lives?  The answer is YES!  Reach out and let me be your guide on the journey to reach your fulfilled balanced life.

Wishing you the best as you take your next steps toward having a Professional Edge.
